About Pangborn Premier Eye Care

At Pangborn Premier Eye Care, we believe that great vision care starts with genuine connection. As a local, veteran-owned and operated optometry practice in the heart of Wakefield, Rhode Island, we take pride in knowing our patients by name—not by appointment number.

Our philosophy is simple: treat every patient like family. From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll find a warm, welcoming atmosphere that reflects the small-town values our community is built on. We take the time to listen, to understand your needs, and to provide care that feels personal and never rushed.

Unlike large corporate offices that move patients through like a production line, our approach is centered on quality over quantity. Every exam, every fitting, every conversation matters to us—because your eyes, your health, and your trust matter.

Led by Dr. Joshua Pangborn, our full-scope optometry practice provides comprehensive eye exams, disease management, and eyewear services for the entire family. We combine thoughtful, attentive care with modern diagnostic tools to ensure your vision is clear and your eyes stay healthy for years to come.

At Pangborn Premier Eye Care, you’re not just another patient, you’re part of our community. And we’ll always make sure you see the world the premier way.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes your office different?

We’re a veteran owned, small-town practice—not a corporate chain. That means we take our time with every patient, provide personalized care, and treat you like family. You’ll always see Dr. Pangborn or Dr. Kreiger, not a rotating list of doctors.

What brands of glasses do you carry?

We hand-select our frame lines to balance style, quality, and value—including independent designers and trusted favorites. We’re always adding new collections to keep things fresh!

Do you accept vision insurance?

Yes, we work with most major vision and medical insurance plans. If you’re not sure whether we accept your plan, just give us a call and we’ll be happy to check for you.

Can I use my own frames or lenses?

In many cases, yes! We’re happy to replace lenses in your own frames as long as they’re in good condition.

What’s included in a comprehensive eye exam?

Our exams go beyond checking vision—we assess the overall health of your eyes, screen for diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease, and check how your eyes work together. It’s a full check-up for your vision and eye health.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring your insurance card, photo ID, current glasses or contact lenses, and any eye medications you use. If you have previous eye records, bring those too—they help us get a full picture of your eye health.
